Drug Enforcement for Modern Officers (DEMO)

Is a four-day training program designed to provide officers with a structured foundation in drug enforcement. The course offers practical instruction in the core skills needed to begin or enhance narcotics investigations, with training grounded in real cases, established techniques, and field-proven methods. Subject matter experts with current, real-world experience deliver all instruction.

The DEMO course integrates classroom learning with multiple practical exercises. Students receive instruction on topics such as equipment selection, information management, files and forms, drug and paraphernalia identification, investigative techniques, brand stamping, trash searches, surveillance methods, the use of police K-9, DNA considerations in narcotics investigations, and the differences between search and arrest warrants. Practical exercises include patrol interdiction stops, vehicle searches, rolling surveillance, informant interviews, and controlled buys. These exercises are conducted with an emphasis on safety and adherence to department policy.

Throughout the course, students learn how to organize information, document observations, plan operations, and apply investigative techniques during real-world scenarios. The curriculum is designed to help officers build confidence and develop a repeatable process they can use immediately within their agency.

DEMO is intended for officers seeking to begin work in drug enforcement or refine their existing approach through structured training and hands-on application.
