General Investigations For New & Aspiring Detectives
Our General Investigations course is a 3-day introductory course for new and aspiring detectives, designed to provide a foundational understanding of a variety of crimes, from property crimes like thefts to more serious offenses such as sexual assaults and homicides. This course emphasizes basic principles and introductory techniques in investigative work, rather than advanced training. Students will learn about the importance of forensic awareness in crime scene processing across different types of cases. It’s ideal for new detectives, those looking to transition into detective roles, or patrol officers interested in understanding the investigative process behind the scenes.
The course also covers essential, entry-level aspects of crime scene management and investigative techniques, offering practical insights into handling a variety of cases, including suspicious deaths, homicides, aggravated assaults, and threats. Participants will gain a basic understanding of constitutional rights, courtroom preparation, and testimony, equipping them with initial skills to navigate the justice system confidently. By the end of this course, participants will have a broad foundation in general investigations, preparing them to approach a range of cases and advance their careers in law enforcement.
