Trauma Informed Leadership
Navigating the path of a first responder, veteran, and/or family member exposes the individual(s) to comprehensive/complex psychological, emotional, behavioral, and physiological, constructs. For far too long, and often, we are set adrift without any preparation, understanding, or guidance, of how to identify, nor tackle these inherent adverse experiences. As such, we wait until it consumes us, and our families, before we (maybe) reach out for help. The goal is to change the culture by normalizing the common responses to the exposure of trauma and traumatic experiences.
In turn, creating an environment where the resources are abundant and the first responder, veteran, and/or family member is encouraged and willing to obtain help/resources before their situation becomes unmanageable or deadly.
Sergeant Christopher Scallon shares his experiences, education, and journey from childhood, to veteran, to enthusiastic rookie to a damaged/suicidal cop to a mental health advocate providing support for all first responders, veterans, and their families. Through this personal account, the hope is that others will benefit from the mistakes made and realize, it is never too late to start taking care of ourselves. Each of these trainings focus on several themes and are catered to specific audiences (Various disciplines and ranks).
