Supervisors and managers at any level will have a sharpened focus on the basics, while also being introduced to the latest concepts which can take the student’s leadership abilities to the next level.
One crucial aspect covered in the course is the examination of how organizational culture and leadership styles affects employee morale, motivation, and effectiveness. Highlighted is how creating a culture absent of fear, where employees feel safe and secure, can have a positive impact on the effectiveness of your organization to create a highly capable team, produce future leaders, and build trusting employee / management relationships.
This course will discuss how leadership styles matter and can either negatively or positively impact the morale of your team and organization. Additionally, the course emphasizes the significance of the connection between building relationships and getting things done. Leaders in law enforcement organizations must possess the ability to build strong relationships with their troops, as this contributes to effective teamwork, morale, and overall organizational success. As trust is the foundation of all sound relationships, this course will cover aspects of leadership behavior which can positively impact team members and foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Further, students will be introduced to the latest concepts in leadership from some of the most renown leadership gurus of our time. Simon Sinek, John Maxwell, Steven Covey, L. David Marquet, Jocko Willink, Leif Babin, Colin Powell, and more. The literature and concepts review include lessons from “Leaders Eat Last,” “Start with Why,” “Extreme Ownership,” “Turn the Ship Around,” “Principle Centered Leadership,” and “The One Minute Manager.” An emphasis is made on the value of supervisors and managers investing and expanding their knowledge in the plethora of leadership concepts available on-line, in libraries, bookstores, and training course.
