Mobile Device Investigation Fundamentals
In today's digital age, mobile devices play a crucial role in criminal investigations. This comprehensive two-day course is designed for law enforcement officials who are likely to encounter mobile devices at crime scenes. No prior experience in mobile forensics is required, making it accessible for all levels of investigators. Unlike other forensic tool training classes that focus solely on their technology, this course prepares investigators for the crucial preliminary steps before data extraction.
Participants will learn essential protocols and best practices for the collection and preservation of evidence from cellular devices. The course covers a range of topics, including effective data access methods, techniques for working with witnesses and victims, and the importance of identifying both inculpatory and exculpatory evidence. Additionally, constitutional issues related to mobile device investigations will be thoroughly discussed. The significance of meticulous documentation throughout the investigative process will also be emphasized, ensuring that evidence handling can withstand legal scrutiny. Participants will also learn strategies for locating various sources of mobile data, including cloud services, apps, and social media platforms, to ensure a comprehensive approach to evidence gathering.
By the end of this course, attendees will have a solid foundation in mobile device investigations, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to properly handle digital evidence in their criminal investigations.
This comprehensive training compliments third-party services/training and optimizes resource utilization. This training will enhance your agency's investigative capabilities, reduce operational risks, lower costs, and improve overall efficiency - all of which contribute to more successful outcomes in criminal investigations.
This course is taught by Detective David Ruskey.
