Michael Brasche
Detective Michael J. Brasche dedicated 28 years of service to the Bristol, Connecticut, Police Department, exemplifying commitment
and leadership throughout his career. Beginning as a patrol officer in 1993, Mike served in this capacity until 2005, taking on critical assignments,
including service on the Central Region S.W.A.T. team, where he held the roles of Squad Leader and Team Leader.
He also served as a Field Training Officer, provided support to the Street Level Crime Suppression Unit,
and was assigned to the Public Housing Patrol.
Transitioning to the rank of Detective from 2005 to 2022, Mike became a Narcotics K-9 Handler and a member of the Narcotics Enforcement Team,
dedicating 16 years to this specialized area. His expertise was instrumental in combating narcotics-related crime and supporting the department’s enforcement initiatives.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Mike served his country in the Connecticut Army National Guard from 1982 to 2012. He retired with an honorable discharge,
attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant E/6. During his military tenure, Mike served as the Unit Training Sergeant and
course manager for the Quick Reaction Force, where he organized and conducted training support for approximately
100 soldiers and staff members during both weekend and annual training periods.
Mike’s dedication to excellence has been recognized through over 16 distinct awards and commendations from both the military and law
enforcement. Notable honors include the Bristol Police Officer of the Year Award for actions during a bank robbery,
first place as Team Leader in the 2005 S.W.A.T. Competition, the Army Achievement Medal, a Distinguished Service Medal,
and the Battalion Top Gun Rifle Award.
Demonstrating a commitment to youth and community safety, Mike developed and taught “The Game,” an educational program
for middle-school and high-school students. This initiative addresses the dangers of drug use explicitly,
reflecting his ongoing dedication to public education and prevention efforts.
